SME Overview The Yellowbar Angelfish, also known as the Maculosus Angel, is a true heavyweight of the marine world and one of the hardiest large angels available to hobbyists. As a juvenile, this fish displays a beautiful blue body with white and light-blue semicircular bands, which will eventually transform into a deep blue adult coloration marked by a signature "map-like" yellow bar on its side. Because they grow large and are quite active, a massive tank with high-capacity filtration is non-negotiable. They are generally bold and territorial, so they should be added to the aquarium last. While hardier than many other large angels, they still require a diverse diet that includes sponge-based foods, spirulina, and high-quality meaty items to thrive and maintain their vibrant colors.
